Hi!
Your website really helped us to plan our own walk which we are currently undertaking. We hit Carlisle yesterday and despite the worst June weather since records began, we're loving every minute of our adventure!
We got married on the 5th of May this year and started our walk for
Our honeymoon on the 12th!! It's been brilliant so far and we're so excited about being so close to Scotland! Neither of us have ever done any long distance walks before or even any training so we entered this challenge blind... Which has made us feel even more proud of our achievements so far Smile
We would like to write a book when we've finished - can you give us any advice on publishers etc?
Also I saw you are planning a trip to central America and I might be able to help you out in return as I spent a long time in Nicaragua and might be able to give you some information?
Best wishes
Sami

Hi Sami and Seth.

Walking across the country for your honeymoon - that's amazing! Congratulations on your wedding and on coming up with such a great idea for your honeymoon. If you've managed to get all the way to Carlisle in this weather and you're both still smiling, I think you'll find that married life will work out just fine! Smile

As for getting a book published, it's difficult if you go down the route of traditional paper publishing, as there are already plenty of Land's End to John o'Groats books on the market, and most publishers probably won't be interested unless you have a totally unique angle (which may be the case here, but publishers are fairly hard to please!). However publishing your book on, say, the Kindle store is much easier, doesn't require a publisher and you get exposure to a potentially massive market. When my original publisher folded, I published my book on the Kindle store and the sales are much higher, although the profit margin is also smaller, so it depends what you want to achieve. There are lots of companies who can help you self-publish a paperback, though you may have to pay for the privilege.

That said, writing about your experiences is a great idea anyway, even if you don't go on to publish it as a book. You will end up with an account that you can look back on years later to bring back all those happy memories, and that alone is worth its weight in book sales... Smile

As for Nicaragua, any suggestions you could send my way would be fantastic. I'm at the planning stages so that would be great! Thank you for the offer.

Anyway, congratulations again and I hope you manage to get to John o'Groats without getting too wet!

Best wishes,

Mark

Hi Sami and Seth,

I wish you the very best of luck for the rest of your walk, I'm sure you'll enjoy the West Highland Way in particular. After reading this post I googled your names and came the following article. It also links to your Just Giving page, so I'm sure you won't mind me posting it here;

Personally I just can't get enough of end-to-end walk stories, so I really hope your book gets published. Please let us know if it does, even an online version would be great. It looks like you've passed through many places that were on my route too, so I'm very interested to read your story.

Best wishes

Gary

Good find, Gary! That's a great article.

Sami and Seth, if you do manage to put together anything on the web, I'll be very happy to link to you from my links page. Might help drive a bit of traffic your way - though it looks like you're doing pretty brilliantly already. Well done on raising such a big total!

Mark
