Hi Mark - Just finished reading your Land's End to John o'Groats book. Enjoyed it and marked the individual chunks on my road atlas. I didn't come to walking till I "found" the Lakes in the mid-80's and went back there for 22 consecutive years (last in 2004) which is pretty good for someone (now 80) living in the extreme south of England (Salisbury). A major cancer op in 2009 has put paid to my activities but I still derive great pleasure from seeing walks I've done on various walking websites. Dare I sign off by saying that I've never had a drink of beer !!! Cheers

Hi Brian.

Well, dare I say it, but I've never done any proper walking in the Lakes, so I think we're even! I think I went there with a school trip once, but my geographical memory is so hazy I'm not sure whether it was the Lakes or another National Park, but one thing's for certain: I have yet to do anything other than a short wander there as an adult. I've done most of my walking abroad, apart from LEJOG, and I didn't go via the Lakes on my End-to-End wander. One day I'll have to rectify that!

Anyway, I'm delighted that you enjoyed my book, and thanks for taking the time to post. It's great to know that people out there are enjoying it! Smile

Best wishes,

Mark
